Walk to some of the Stanza Stones on Rombald’s Moor

We will follow the Leeds Liverpool canal as far as Riddlesden before climbing up to Rombald’s Moor. The route passes three of the six Stanza Stones created in 2012 by Simon Armitage as part of the 47-mile-long Stanza Stones trail: The Dew Stone, Puddle Stone and Beck Stone.

Depart: 9:45 am Meet at: Burley Station to catch the 9.58 am train to Crossflatts

The walk starts at Crossflatts Station. We will follow the Leeds Liverpool canal as far as Riddlesden before climbing up to Rombald’s Moor. The route passes three of the six Stanza Stones created in 2012 by Simon Armitage as part of the 47-mile-long Stanza Stones trail: The Dew Stone, Puddle Stone and Beck Stone. Each stone is carved with poems reflecting the theme of water. There are some steep ascents and the moorland paths will be rough in places. Please bring a picnic lunch and enough to drink. There is an option of finishing the walk in Ilkley instead of continuing back to Burley.

Cost: Free – rail fair to Crossflatts required
