Burley Summer Festival 2017
Stop Press - Reservoir Walk - Thursday 24 August
The Walkers are Welcome group have added a second group to the above walk, as the initial group had become fully booked.
13 places were lifted from those waitlisted, leaving 8 spare place out of the extra allocation of another 21.
Those 8 places have now gone on sale online on a 'first come, first served' basis.
When they're gone, they're gone.
Stop Press - Spotty Socks Theatre Company
With the last minute enforced cancellation of the proposed "Educating Rita" production, the theatre company has pulled out all the stops by securing an alternative comedy to replace the event - Teechers. Same date, time and costs, so ticket sales are open again.
See the 'Events' page for details.
Welcome to our 9th Summer Festival - we hope there is something in the week to please everybody. Many of our most popular events will be happening once more alongside new ones.
This year the walks programme offered by Walkers are Welcome has been extended, and in response to demand we again have a ceilidh in the programme.
We have two musical treats on the first night. Well known folk rock singer Charlie Dore will be performing in the Social Club – tickets will be in big demand for this event. We also have our annual concert from the Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble, with its conductor David Greed, Opera North.
The theme for this year’s ‘Scarecrow Trail’ is ‘Back to the 80s’ and we’re looking for another excellent response.
The Festival week this year will run from Saturday August 19th to Sunday August 27th with a small number of events taking place immediately before or after the main week.
Saturday 19th sees the return of the ever popular Burley-in-Woofdale Fun Dog Show with the Terrier Racing back by popular demand.
Sunday 20th is the BIG DAY in the week and the ever popular Burley Classic Show will take place alongside the Craft Fair and the Food and Drinks market, and many other events.
The Festival programme will be delivered to all households in July and it provides opportunities for local businesses and organisations to advertise.
The Festival is organised by a Committee supported by additional volunteers in the run up to the Festival and during the week.
Currently we have a small number of vacancies on the Committee and would like to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in helping to organise the Festival - please contact Sylvia Tilford on firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be providing regular updates on the Festival on this website, through press releases, and via social media - follow us on Twitter and on Facebook.
Stop Press - Educating Rita: Friday 25 August
We have been advised by the Spotty Socks Theatre Company that their application for performing rights to produce this play has not been granted. The show has therefore been cancelled.
Alternatives are currently being investigated, and we'll advise of any solution asap.
Full refunds for those who have already booked will, of course, be offered as soon as the options are presented.
