​Burley Praise in the Park with Churches Together

All are welcome to come along to a joint outdoor praise service by the Churches Together in Burley. Please bring a chair or rug to sit on as we worship together in community.

​Burley Art Club Show
Time: 10am - 5pm
​Venue: St Mary’s Parish Centre, Station Road

The Burley Art Club will be holding its Festival Exhibition featuring the work of its members. The Club would like to see you at the exhibition - come along for a tea or coffee and a friendly chat with club members while viewing their work.  Some work on display will be for sale.
Cost: Free

​Venue: Sun Lane Nature Reserve, Sun Lane

Do you know where the Sun Lane Barn Owl likes to hunt? Would you like to create stunning photos of Burley's nature? 
Enjoy an easy-paced, informative photo walk as award winning professional photographer Rich shares his top tips for improving your wildlife photos. Beginners to experts with any camera, phone or tablet are all welcome.
​Cost: £10, Under 16s free if accompanied by a paying adult

​Food and Drink Market
Time: 10am - 3pm
​Venue: The Grange car park, Station Road and in Grange Park

The Burley Food and Drink Market showcases produce available from the local area and beyond. Each year the market attracts up to 3,000 people who want to eat, drink and buy the best local products that are seldom available in the supermarkets. Delicious deli offerings and succulent street food combine to provide some of the best local shopping experiences and an ideal way to picnic through the day’s Festival events. With around 30 stalls, included this year will be organic vegetables, gluten free sausages, bacon and Italian cured meats, home-made pizza in a wood-burning stove, artisan sourdough and other slow fermented breads, sweet and savoury pancakes cooked to order, traditional Russian, Greek and Indian food, cider, apple juice, liqueurs, beers, coffee and tea.

​Health and Wellbeing Event
Time: 11am - 3:30pm
Venue: Burley Library and Burley Grange

A free-to-attend event showcasing some of the ways in which improved health and wellbeing can be achieved.  There will be opportunities to talk to several charities providing support in times of need and take part in interactive demonstrations. Events will take place in both Burley Library and Burley Grange so please make time to visit both. Outside the library you can enter the Guide Dogs Sensory Unit – an interactive experience that simulates what it is like to be visually impaired. This event is being provided in association with Aireborough Leisure Centre, the Burley Patient Participation Group and Space Fitness and Wellbeing.
Cost: Free - donations to charities attending will be gratefully received

​Donkey Rides
Time: 11am - 4pm
​Venue: Grange Park, Grange Road

Come and meet the donkeys and, if young enough, enjoy a ride around the park.
Cost: £2.50 a ride

​Bowls
Time: 11am - 3pm
​Venue: Grange Park, Grange Road

The Burley Bowling Club will be hosting Target Bowls. If you’ve ever thought you’d like to have a go then do drop in. No equipment necessary as bowls will be provided. For all ages. New members of the club will be made very welcome. Light refreshments will be available.

​Owls
Time: Demonstrations at 11am, 1pm and 3pm
​Venue: Grange Park, Grange Road

By popular demand, a return of Yorkshire Owl Experience. Come along and learn about owls. Talks will include an introduction to the owls and where they come from, their feeding habits with feeding pellets on show, how they build their nests and a look at the display of eggs they have laid. Stroke the birds to feel the different textures of their feathers. There will be some opportunities to take pictures with the owls during the day.

​Arts and Craft Market
Time: 11am - 4pm
​Venue: Queen’s Hall

Designers, artists and crafts people all come together to showcase their products - the Arts and Craft market will feature a variety of locally produced arts and crafts which are made by the stallholders themselves.  This gives you the chance to purchase individual items direct from the makers.  If you have an arts and craft skill you want to showcase there may be a few stalls still available (or you may be able to go on the waiting list) so please contact Jill Dearden on: jillatpaperchain@aol.com for further information.

​Burley Summer Festival Vintage Fair
Time: 11am - 4pm
​Venue: Queen’s Hall annexe

Burley-based vintage company Alfie Robot Retro presents the Burley Summer Festival Vintage Fair, featuring stalls selling beautiful homeware and fantastic fashion from the 20s to the 80s.
Cost: Free
Booking: Not required - just turn up

​Burley Classic Show - sponsored by KT Green of Otley
Time: 11am - 4pm
Venue: Burley Cricket Ground, Grange Road

The Burley Classic Show, now in its 11th year, is one of the cornerstone events of the Summer Festival and attracts in excess of 300 vehicle entries each year. There’s a wide variety of vehicles on display, ranging from Morris Minors to Ford Mustangs, plus club displays from the likes of the Aston Martin Owners Club and Ilkley and District Motor Club.  Admission to the Show is free for spectators, with onsite catering facilities being kindly provided by Burley Cricket Club. ​Burley Ukulele Jammers
Time: 12noon - 12:45pm
Venue: Grange Park, Grange Road

This group, which plays together regularly, was formed as a result of a ukulele taster session  in the 2015 Summer Festival. Their appearance has become a highlight of the Festival.

​Community Litter Pick
Time: 4pm
Venue: Meet at the Plastic Free Stall, Grange Park

Plastic Free Burley in Wharfedale are committed to fighting plastic pollution and waste in the village, and need your help. There will be a stall in Grange Park from 2pm until 4pm; come  along to find out more and enter the prize draw. There will also be activities for children. At 4pm there will be a community litter pick - everyone is welcome. All equipment will be  provided - please meet at the stall.

​Music and Barbecue
Time: 6pm onwards
Venue: The Red Lion

Barbecue outside if dry, inside if wet. DJ playing music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
