The 2018 Scarecrow Trail
This year's theme:
Once Upon a Bookcase
To celebrate National Book Day (March 1), Burley Summer Festival has announced the theme to this year's Burley Festival Scarecrow Competition.
This year’s theme will be ‘Once Upon a Bookcase’ so whether fairy tale, classic fable or famous novel, this year's Burley Festival invites you to recreate a character or scene from your favourite fictional book in your front garden.
This years scarecrow organiser Vicky Green said: "We look forward to welcoming everyone from Harry Potter to Huckleberry Finn to the streets of Burley this August!
“We had a great response at the end of last year's competition as to what this years theme should be especially as it is our tenth anniversary and the committee decided to go for the most popular choice of ‘books’. We have called the theme ‘Once Upon a Book Case’ so people can let their imaginations run wild.
"With nearly six months to go it will give people plenty of time to come up with some fantastic scarecrows to decorate our village throughout the Festival, which runs from Saturday 18th August until Monday 27th August.”
Registration forms for the Scarecrow Trail are presently being prepared, and will be available on this site shortly. Meanwhile, put your thinking caps on!
