2019 Burley Summer Festival
We are now looking forward to our 11th Burley Summer Festival, which this year runs from Saturday 17th to Saturday 24th August.
Although this year we have lost some key members of our Committee the remaining group, joined by one new person, is keen to organise a Festival of events that encourages participation from across the village and the wider area.
There will be events old and new and we are keen to hear from anyone with any ideas as to how their interest or organisation may be represented in this year’s programme. We see the Festival as a partnership with organisations from across the village, benefiting from participation, whether it’s to gain new members, to publicise their activities, to raise funds or just to enjoy themselves, and share this with the village in which they may live or work! The Festival is for everyone!
We are hoping for a glorious week of sun to help the outdoor events such as the Classic Car Show, the Dog Show and the Food and Craft Market be a successes again. However, whatever the weather there will be events for everyone, from children’s play activities in the park to sedate (and more energetic) walks from Walkers are Welcome. And there will be indoor activities too – Japanese Calligraphy, Theatre and Art workshops, and more.
As always, the Festival wouldn’t happen without contributions from organisations and individuals, including those who contribute events to the programme, those who advertise in the printed programme or sponsor events, the team of volunteers who support the organisation during the Festival days, and everyone who comes along and takes part. Whatever you have to contribute we’d love to hear from you in the next month or so as we begin to firm up the Programme. It might seem early but we need to hear from you now. So many people get in touch after our deadline for printing etc so if you have any constructive ideas then please share them now – we’d love to hear from you, however you might want to get involved.
Finally, we are also pleased to announce the theme for the ever popular Scarecrow Trail - which is Heroes and Villains, so get your thinking caps on about your entry and let’s all contribute to making this year’s Festival one of the best – whatever the weather!
